KLM Crown Lounge
Airline Lounges

Opening hours: typically 04:45–22:00 daily.
Location: airside in Schengen departures (Schiphol “Lounge 1”), opposite Pier D (Gates D59–D87) — follow signs for “Airline lounges 25–29”.

Access (summary):

  • Business Class (Standard or Flex) tickets include access (KLM).
  • Flying Blue Gold/Platinum + SkyTeam Elite Plus (1 guest on the same flight).
  • Flying Blue Ultimate (up to 8 guests on the same flight).
  • Paid access can be available from 3 hours before departure (capacity-dependent).

KLM Crown Lounge 25 is the main KLM / SkyTeam lounge in the Schengen area at Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS). I genuinely like this lounge as a practical “reset” space before European flights — but it has two clear drawbacks: limited natural light and crowding, to the point where finding a seat can sometimes feel like a challenge. This is a large, open-plan Schengen lounge with multiple seating zones, and the best tactic is simple: don’t stop at the first open chair. Walk a bit further in and you’ll usually find better options (especially away from the buffet flow).

What I like:

  • It works well as a functional lounge: sit, charge, snack, and get ready to board.
  • There are dedicated work-style areas (good if you arrive during a busy bank).

The downside (and it matters): natural light
Unlike lounges with big apron windows, Lounge 25 feels more “internal” — and that lack of natural light can make it feel flatter and less relaxing than it should.

Crowding reality:
At peak times, this lounge can be very busy, and finding a good seat can genuinely be the hardest part of the visit (especially if you want a pair of seats together).

Food here is designed to be efficient: a buffet you can grab quickly and get on with your day. KLM highlights buffet-style service in its Crown Lounges, and Lounge 25 is very much in that “quick plate” category.

My take: it’s reliable rather than exciting. It does the job well for a Schengen lounge, but it’s not a place I’d arrive early just to eat — I’m here mainly for the reset (when I can find a seat).

Food Selection
Breakfast

For a Schengen lounge, the facilities are actually strong. KLM lists:

  • Wi-Fi
  • Working areas
  • Showers
  • Buffet station

If you’re planning to shower during peak times, go early—crowding tends to be the bigger enemy here than the facilities themselves.

KLM Crown Lounge 25 (Schengen) at Amsterdam Schiphol is a lounge I like — it’s practical, well-located for D-gates, and works perfectly for a quick meal and recharge before a European flight.

But it has two consistent weaknesses:

  1. Limited natural light, which makes the space feel less premium than it could.
  2. Crowding, where seating can become the main challenge during peak departure waves.

Best for: quick reset, charging up, getting work done before Schengen flights
Not ideal for: travelers who want calm, airy lounges with big windows — or anyone arriving right at peak time hoping for quiet vibes
